5 Badass Beards of: The Best of the Rest

This is part 3 of my 5 Badass Beards of: series. This one is going to be focused on the various companies that aren’t the “Big 2” (DC and Marvel).

Razahr

From the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series (Mirage Comics). He is a mutated Grey Wolf and a flunky of Shredder. This villain is known for his superhuman strength, but sub-standard intelligence (At one point Shredder wanted him killed because he thought Master and Mommy were the same thing). While being fully covered in fur to begin with, this character has longer hair on his chin than elsewhere implying a goatee.

Wolf-Man

The Astounding Wolf-Man (Image Comics) is next up on our list. He started as an ordinary man except for one small feature. He has a rather nice beard. And then the night came, where he got attacked. He had his first transformation when he woke up from a coma. Initially a hero, he rather quickly lost control and murdered a man (who was brought back as a Vampire). Shortly after he was framed for murdering his wife. While in hiding, Wolf-Man’s daughter (Believing her father was the killer) went to the real killer for training, so that she could hunt down her father and kill him. Despite his tragic origins, he has a great set of facial hair, whether in Human form or if (like Razahr) in Werewolf Form.

Hellboy

From the series Hellboy (Dark Horse Comics), this demonic figure boasts some rather impressive powers. A healing factor, super strength, an indestructible right hand, immunity to death, damage resistance and the ability to understand ancient languages and magical languages. But we mustn’t forget one important feature, his rather mean mutton chops and that classic soul patch. And what would the worlds greatest paranormal investigator be without a bit of soul.

Rick Grimes

Despite the fact many people only know him from AMC’s The Walking Dead series, it was originally a comic from Image Comics. Rick Grimes before life went hay-wire, was a police officer in small-town Kentucky. He is in frequently involved in leadership disputes (many of which he has won). And why wouldn’t he? With a beard like that he deserves to lead.

Leonidas

Another bearded badass from Dark Horse Comics, Leonidas from 300 is a warrior king in his own right. The leader of Sparta, Leonidas faced down the Persian Empire and the God King Xerxes at Thermopylae. While it is loosely based on real events, much of what happens is made up as well. Leonidas, a warrior all his life, died in a blaze of glory that would make even the Vikings proud. Two movies were spawned by the comics, the first featuring the battles of Leonidas and his 300, the other taking place at the same time featured the Athenian. But enough about the Athenians, we know you guys came here for Leonidas’ life long companion, his faithful beard.
